NURS 221 - Mental Health Nursing The processes in quality and safe nursing care of adolescents and adults with alterations in mental, social, and emotional health are emphasized in this course for the development of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for therapeutic communication, competence, and accountability in understanding human behaviors, necessary adaptations, and the delivery of care of the client experiencing alterations in mental health. Pharmacology and application of life span principles related to mental health are included. Must be taken concurrently with NURS 222 Clinical. Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of NURS 122 or 132, and NURS 123 or 133 with grade C or better; concurrent enrollment in or successful completion of NURS 219 , NURS 220 , and Humanities elective requirement (ENGL 201 or ENGL 202 or ENGL 203 or ENGL 204 or ENGL 205 or ENGL 206 or ENGL 207 or ENGL 208 or ENGL 211 or ENGL 215 or HIST 102 or HIST 102 or HIST 201 or HIST 202 or HIST 201 or HIST 213 ) with a grade of C or better.
