FORS 220 - Forensic Crime Scene Invest II

This course centers around the “holistic crime reconstruction” which is the development of actions and circumstances based on the system of evidence discovered and examined in relation to a particular crime. We will look at a philosophy in which all elements of evidence that come to light in a given case are treated as interdependent; the significance of each piece, each action, and each event falls and rises on the backs of the others. We will look at why the depth and complexity of criminalistics, the need for specialists is inescapable and how overspecialization can bring serious problems to the crime scene even though we work in most agencies as generalists. The course covers how evidence dynamics can change a crime scene reconstruction analysis and how a systematic focus on these dynamics must be critically evaluated. ( Prerequisite(s): FORS 214 and FORS 224 with a C or better. Co-requisite(s): FORS 230.
