Below is from SACSCOC CR 2.7.3

Courses in basic composition that do not contain a literature component, courses in oral communication, and introductory foreign language courses are skill courses and not pure humanities courses. Therefore, for purposes of meeting this standard, none of the above may be the one course designated to fulfill the humanities/fine arts requirement in CR 2.7.3.

Note:

  • If only one humanities is required for an associates, neither speech, foreign language, nor composition may be used to satisfy the humanities requirement
  • If more than one humanity is required, speech, foreign language, or a composition course may be used as a humanities along with a traditional humanity that satisfies the SACSCOC requirement/definition
  • This action was rendered by SACSCOC in 2010.
