General Education Course Disciplines
The LDCC General Education Course Discipline List is used to help guide students on which courses to take when their program requires credit hours in a specific subject area. Students can select the subject area and view the list of courses that fall under that required discipline. This course listing is not subject to the Louisiana Transfer degree programs. The Louisiana Transfer degree course listings can be found within the specific curriculum.
Below is from SACSCOC CR 2.7.3
Courses in basic composition that do not contain a literature component, courses in oral communication, and introductory foreign language courses are skill courses and not pure humanities courses. Therefore, for purposes of meeting this standard, none of the above may be the one course designated to fulfill the humanities/fine arts requirement in CR 2.7.3.
- If only one humanities is required for an associates, neither speech, foreign language, nor composition may be used to satisfy the humanities requirement
- If more than one humanity is required, speech, foreign language, or a composition course may be used as a humanities along with a traditional humanity that satisfies the SACSCOC requirement/definition
- This action was rendered by SACSCOC in 2010.
ARTS 120, ARTS 201, ARTS 202, MUSC 101, and THEA 190 are the only fine art classes that count towards the General Education-Fine Arts requirement.
